I think eclipses of the sun are just a distraction to keep people looking at the sky while they are doing something here on the ground.

Each time there is an eclipse, more gets done.

Eventually, they will be done.

With what? I am not sure.  I don't even know who they are.  But I think whatever it is it's going to be pretty funny.
